BROWSING the IPHONE Directory
looking into the directory files inside the iphone? yes you can do this and you can even put applications and copy, cut paste files to and from the computer/iphone using WINSCP.
here’s how.
LOOKING INTO DIRECTORY GUIDELINES:
1. download “winscp” then hit the exe file after downloading to your computer.
2. it will ask for username password and host.
3.connect your iphone in the computer.
4.go to your iphone setttings – wi-fi – then click the wifi connectivity (should have wireless connection) then search for the info IP ADDRESS.
5. type the ip address of your iphone to the host in winscp
6. type username “root” and alpine as “password”. (or the other way around?! just check if it connects then you’re in)
7. inside winscp you can see on the right side pane the directory files of your iphone and on the left side pane for your computer.
8. if you like to copy the videos from the iphone to your computer just browse in the iphone directory until you find a video folder.
9. you can also view and input applications inside winscp. that i havent tried it out yet but based from my reading it is under the folder var/mobile/
10. enjoy!
note: you can also use “iphonebrowser” but thats a different tutorial.

IPHONE RINGTONES, anyone?
i told my colleague just the other day if he would like to know how to create a ringtone on his iphone and he said yes so i taught him. i told him it is for his own benefit because if he wants a ringtone out of his mp3 selections he can get it immediately even without going to a retail store and buy a ringtone there or over a net.
here’s how you can create your own ringtone out of mp3 selections..
CREATING IPHONE RINGTONE:
1. open itunes 8.2
2.connect your iphone to your computer.no need for internet connection
3.open a mp3 file to your music playlists.
4. listen to what part of the song you would like from the time it will begin and the time it will end (as you desires)
5.remember or write down the starting time of the desired mp3 song and the ending time.
6.after you write down the timing, go to the mp3 and right click on it and select “get info”
7.in the get info box, select “options” tab then tick on the start time and the end time and write down what you have written then press ok.
8.right click on the song again then select “create aac version.” notice that after selecting create aac version it will automatically create a duplicate of the song. if this happens then it is succesful.
9. now go to “user” folder located on the desktop then select “music” folder
10. you will be able to see an itunes folder. click on it then go to “itunes music” folder.
11. this time you’ll be able to see lists of folders you have created using the aac version. select the type of song you have created then right click on it then select rename.
12. rename the file from “anewsong.m4a” to “anewsong.m4r“
13.then go back to itunes and select FILE – ADD FILE
14. browse through the folder where “anewsong.m4r” is located and click ok.
15. select “ringtone” at itunes then drag the created ringtone to your iphone.
16. go to your iphone settings, then select ringtone. you will be able to check if the created ringtone is there. enjoy!!

PSP 3000 modding
recently one of my colleagues bought a psp3000 and gave to me so that i can put in some games. because i havent had any news on psp since my last one last year so i have no idea why my old games are not working on his psp. so i tried researching first the latest updates on psp and found out that sony has been producing psp’s now that can only play games through umd and not through memory stick. so this is the first step i guess.
then i tried searching how to put the games in the memory stick and make it playable. then i found out bout this application chickHEN. and so this is the second step. checking on the version of the psp was my third step and found it was ver 5.03 so it is all good since the steps to crack this psp down is through ver 5.03.
these are the next steps i’ve learned.
1. install chickHEN hack
2. install CFW Enabler
INSTALLING chickHEN:
1. download first chickHEN R2-1 or chickHEN R2-2
2. Go to settings on your PSP and restore to default settings
3. turn off UMD Autostart and UMD cache
4. connect your PSP to your PC
5. extract al files from the chickHEN archive you just downloaded
6. copy the file “h.bin” to the root directory of the memory card
7. copy the chickHEN folder in SLIM to “:\PSP\PHOTO”
8. then restart your psp
9. in your PSP, go to PHOTO then MEMORY STICK and wait for the options menu to appear. then press x to open the chickHEN folder
10. wait for it then you should be able to see a flash of color (in my case neon green) and your PSP will instantly reboot. after this process you’ll be able to find your PSP version as ”ver 5.03 chickHEN R2″ in systems settings
INSTALLING CFW Enabler
1. download CFW Enabler 3.01
2. note that you should have chickHEN installed first before proceeding in these steps.connect your PSP to your computer.
3. extract the files in CFW Enabler then copy the folder CFW Enabler to “:\PSP\GAME”
4. disconnect the PSP from the computer.
5. go to GAME – MEMORY STICK – CFW Enabler
6. after pressing x on CFW ENabler, it will boot up and press o then press x
after these steps your psp will reboot and you can now put ISO games to your mempry stick and play it directly on your memory card. enjoy!
note: try to google the installers and make some effort. you’ll find a lot of them through the net.these steps ive learned is factual and was done on hand.

JAILBREAK YOUR IPHONE 3.0
recently i have been busy. not of photography, not of music but with a lot of personal matter relationship and gadgets! so this time its time to share what i have learned. i have posted this in my other wp account but i think it would be appropriate to just relive the memories here and not on a new blog. so here’s my share to those who have iphones, just leave a comment to what part you dont understood in my guidelines.. -gmac
iphones are very tricky when putting applications and it needs a lot of reading first before going through a lot of steps to make it a powerful handy phone.
last 2 months i read a lot of blogs, articles and forums just to check how to jailbreak iphone with firmware 2.2.1 and it really took my patience to the limits until i manage to get it done using not my iphone but my girlfriend’s. i did it and not only that i manage to jailbreak it but also i did a lot of tweakings to make it like a portable memory card and even try to view in the directory files of the iphone system.
so how did i manage to make it? before anything else, this month apple updated their firmware to ver 3.0.1 and so what ill be discussing here will be the updated one. almost similar to the ver 2.2.1 and little add-ons. i would like point out that the installers ill be speaking of here should be downloaded by you. you should make an effort finding these installers. ill just guide you to series of steps that will help you make your iphone majestic. hehe.
so here is the first step..
INSTALLING ver 3.0 firmware:
1. you need to check your iphone’s version by going to SETTINGS – GENERAL – ABOUT then check the firmware version. if it is 2.2.1 you need to download the ipsw “iphone 1,2_3.0_7A341_restore.ipsw
2. after downloading the ipsw open itunes. note that your itunes must be version 8.2. if your itunes is not itunes8.2 then go to apple.com then download it from them.
3. when you open the itunes connect your iphone to your computer then wait for the itunes to connect with the device.
4. upon connection of iphone to itunes, go to your iphone then select restore. before you click on restore hold shift then click restore. it will automatically open a browser dialog box.
5. look for the ipsw you just downloaded and select it then hit open.
note: wait for the itunes to restore your iphone until such time it asks you if you want your iphone to restore as a new phone or just the same with the back up. do not select the restore as a new phone rather select the other option. then it will finish restoring your phone and your current version now will be updated to version 3.0 build 7a341.
JAILBREAKING THE IPHONE:
1. this is by far the most important thing to make your iphone powerful. ok so after doing the update to version 3.0 you’ll be needing “redsnow-win_0.7.1″
2. after downloading the redsnow, extract the files and put and put it in your desktop inside a floder you can rename anywway you like it. as for me i put redsnow. then put inside the redsnow folder the ipsw you downloaded awhile back.
3. open redsnow.exe
then it will open a dialog box looking for an ipsw. click browse then search the ipsw and select it. afterwhich you have selected it it will go to another page wherein you wil be asked to install cydia. be sure that cydia is ticked.
4. before processidng and hitting next button, make sure itunes is not open and that your iphone is turned off. then if these are done, click next button.
5. be ready for it will direct you on what you should do next. you’ll be able to see that it is instructing you to hold the power button for 5 seconds then after that it will ask you to hold the power button and home button same time for 10seconds then release the power button but not the home button for 25 seconds.
6. if you see that the running pineapple head is displayed on the screen of your iphone release the home button and wait for it until such time it will say that your phone is already jailbroken.
7. your iphone will reboot automatically and when it opens click the home button and slide to unlock.you’ll be able to see on your springboard the application cydia. when you see this, congratulations! your iphone is already jailbroken.
INSTALLING INSTALLOUS:
1. installous is needed to your iphone making it sync with your computer/itunes.
2. click cydia in your iphone. make sure you have wireless connectivity within range. then it will load cydia and you’ll be able to see on the dock sources. click “sources” and click “edit” on the top right.
3. after clicking “edit” an “add” button will appear. click this one and type this repository -> http://cydia.hackulo.us then press add.
4. press add anyway after it asks you. then click done.
5. click cydia.hackulo.us and it will direct you to packages such as installous, crackulous, etc.
6. click installous then confirm then install.
7. after this it will ask you to restart cydia just hit that button then you’re done.
8.go to your springboard (main display of applications) then click installous.
9. go to settings of installous then slide the switch of itunes sync to “on”
10. you’re now done in making your iphone sync with your computer.
INSTALLING APPSYNC 3.0
1. you should be able to see this inside cydia and you also need this.
2.click cydia then when you are inside, go to sources again then click cydia.hackulo.us then you will be able to see appsync 3.0 there.
3. just click it and install then confirm.
INSTALLING OPEN SSH and SBSETTINGS:
1. when you are inside cydia, at the dock click search.
2. type “openssh” then click on it and then install then confirm.
3. just follow the next step then do the same with sbsettings.
4. after this i think your done and you can now tweak, and play around your iphone.
5. there are packages wherein you can directly install it on your iphone using cydia with wireless connectivity.
INSTALLING APPLICATIONS (IPA’s) from COMPUTER to IPHONE:
1. open itunes 8.2
2. connect your iphone to your computer.
3. wait for the device to be connected in the itunes. when it is found, just click register later then continue.
4. your computer should have internet connection.
5.click itunes store.
6.click any “free applications” you see in itunes store.
7.hit download free app
8. it will ask for your email and some informations. click “none” on the list of visa or mastercard then answer some required informations.
9. remember your email and password.
10.go to email and click verification account on itunes.
11. after verification successful, go to “store” in itunes (located on top of itunes) then look for authorize computer
12.click the apple id and password.
13. congratulations your done.
14. you can now go to file and select file and browse for the downloaded ipa’s from your computer then drag it directly to your iphone just like dragging songs to your iphone from the music library.

venture part 1
ok so i promise that i would do some sotry telling on my venture to singapore and malaysia along with it are tips you will find interesting and most helpful in case you might want to try it out.
to start with, singapore was on my list on places i wanted to go but i never thought of it being my first. for some reasons, it made me go there and i mean good reasons. so i placed an e-ticket reservation with the use of the cc of my friend and was charged during that time at the lowest possible rate we can find at www.philippinesairline.com at 167 USD plus tax rate of 100USD in total would be 13,o8oPHP converted already.
one of my friend working at PAL told me that they have this 10 seater plane wherein you can avail international flights at the lowest rate you’ll see. it was rated i thnk around 4,500php round ticket already going to singapore. the only disadvantage besides being a 10 seater plane is that no meals included. bah! who would wanted a meal anyways on a 3 hours ride to singapore. so why in the world dindt i avail of this? simple, no more slots for me. so if you are thinking on booking on this lowest rate they have, then might as well have your booking as early as possible so you would get accomodated.
going back, i paid my friend the 13,000PHP and got my itinerary booking schedule. i guess one thing that made it expensive also was that im going to singapore on the hinghlight of chinese new year which was celebrated jan 27. one reminder is that if you used another cc(credit card) which is not under your name then i suggest you photocopy on the front ONLY of the cc and any valid ID with picture under the signatory of the cardholder and staple it with along with the itinerary. NEVER photocopy the back of the cc where the CVC number can be seen.
my first problem encountered: ok so i got up 7am in the morning on the day of my flight and as check the necessary things that i should bring before leaving. too bad, that time i wasnt able to read the note and reminder to bring the photocopy of the cardholder’s cc and his valid id so upon seeing it, i immediately called my friend and ask him if he could photocopy these things. so he got up but the problem is there is no available fax machine or internet that time. but there was another problem.
my second problem encountered: i was caught up in a traffic jam at EDSA. it was already 9am and im still there. so i went on an mrt ride and was thinking on riding another cab at the last station which i did and i arrived at centennial airport terminal 2 around 945am. i was late already and the plane was off the ramp.
so guys another reminder, dont go making yourself caught up on traffic jam on weekdays instead go to the airport early and i mean early in the morning if you have a morning flight schedule.
so i have two problems. i need the documents and i was late. not bad for a first timer. (lol). so i went on the information booth in the middle of the terminal they told me that if i wanted to continue on my tour, then i have to wait for the next flight and pay another 100usd for the “go show” if i heard it right. of course i wanted to go so i went to the nearest cashier area of PAL and pay them the sum of 100usd so i can get on the next flight which that time will be around 230pm. NICE! i woke up 7am and there i was waiting for the documents to be sent on the fax machine on their lobby area/PR office and for the next fligh flight in the afternoon. also i was called of bein a chance passenger.
so if this happens to you. here are the tips. after you pay the amount of 100usd for the go show you must have the photocopied documents or you can ask your friend to scan the front ONLY of the cc and another scan of the valid id so in total 2 jpeg pictures. then ask one staff of PAL in the information booth to give their email addresses so thay can check on it through email. remember DO NOT scan the back of the cc which contains the valuable information or CVC number. after they recieved it they will put note on your itinerary with their signatories so when you go to the ticketing office they will not question the integrity of your payment. never mind the fax machine because it will produce poor quality image on the end part meaning unreadable documents. then go to the ticketing office outside the terminal and register yourself being a chance passenger on the next flight. then afterwhich wait for the next flight.
so it was already 130pm and they are accpeting check in luggages. i fall in line but when it was my turn, the attendant printed my ticket but put me on hold because i was a chance passenger already. 230pm was the time fo flight and it was already 2pm when they gave me the ticket and accept my baggage for check in. so i immediately ran to the cashier to pay travel tax of 1,600PHP. then another payment of 750PHP for custom tax (i think) and fall in line on the immigration. another problem encountered…
my third problem encountered: the immigration officer of the day asked me where i was going in singapore. i told her im doing a 5 days tour there and if she’s asking me where im going to reside i told her its a vacation so probably on a hotel. this made the officer furious which i dont know why. she told me to tell her where im exactly going to temporarily reside and if i want my money back then i have to declare PAL to cancel my booking or my flight. my thoughts that time, this lady is nonsense. but instead of getting mad, i went on another line and write down the address of my friend’s place. and on the other line this guy ask me the same question. i was thinking what is the problem of these people if i wanted to have a vacation tour in singapore and they needed exact information what im going to do there. in the end the guy asked me if i have an ocw card. so i looked for my card and showed it to him.
the officer of that day went to me and these are the words she left me “BABALIK KA HA!!!” (pointing her fingers at me)
at this point, i wanted to shout also to her but i dont want to go on her level so after the guy stamped my passport with clearance i immediately went to the gate where i was supposed to get off to. but the plane was again off the ramp and so i have to ride this coaster-like vehicle going to the plane.
i was on the plane at last. bad days yes but all of it were erased when i was on the plane.
i just thought that people sometimes get a little stereotype to others. i hope they lessen their being judgmental. just because too many pinoy are going on hide at other countries doesnt mean we all are. probably that lady just had her bad hair days. hehehe.
to be continued…….
