IPHONE 3G VideoEdit

one of the features of having 3GS iphone is the videoedit. this means you can trim and send video on your iphone through emails. unfortunately for 3GS only. not anymore…

this tutorial will teach you how your iphone 3G can have this feature:

1. must have these installed in your iphone: cydia, cycorder, openssh, mobile terminal, wifi connection
2. must have these in your computer: winscp, videotoggle.zip, wlan/lan connection
3. open winscp in your computer and type the ip adress of your iphone (located in general>settings>wifi network>blue arrow) in the host name, then type “root” as username and “alpine” as password.
3. go to /private/var/tmp
4. browse for your extracted videotoggle zip file and look for the folder “VideoToggle”
5. copy that folder inside your iphone’s /private/var/tmp
6. go to mobile terminal of your iphone and type “su”
7. type the password “alpine”
8. type the following:

bash(space)/private/var/tmp/VideoToggle/install

9. after installation, it will respring. after respring, reboot device.
10. after rebooting, you will be able to see your videoedit switch in sbsettings. toggling to “ON” will make your videos from cycorder put in camera roll folder under photos. by then you’ll be able to see photos and videos at the same time.
11. tapping the video will go to the video and you can edit it by selecting the ends of the taskbar inside your iphone and selecting trim. what’s even great is that you can be able to view your videos inside the internal storage system in your computer without using any application. just go to the internal storgae folder of your iphone then you’ll see your videos ready for copying and pasting.

NOTE: toggling videoedit to “ON” will disable your camera so make sure you turn it off after editing the video or after sending it as email. then your camera will work once again. thanks to the tutorial i once read.

IPHONE ipa transfer without using ITUNES

[I]warning: your phone must be jailbroken and must have the installous program inside your iphone and winscp in your computer.[/I]

i found out this method during my course of searching all the folders located inside my iphone.i found out the folder where the ipa’s are located inside myiphone so i thought of transferring my downloaded ipa’s from my computer to my iphone, and it worked!!! so i hope this will work for you too.

here are the steps in syncing your downloaded or downloaded ipa’s from your computer to yor iphone without using Itunes.

1. first you must have winscp in your computer. if so, run the program.
2. you must connect your iphone to a wifi network.
3. type the ip address of your iphone to the host name in winscp program then type “root” as your username and “alpine” as your password.
4. then go to /private/var/mobile/Media and click on the “Download” folder.
5. on your left side pane, search for the ipa you downloaded and then simply drag it to the right side pane which is inside the “Download” folder.
6. after the transfer, go to your iphone then open installous. go to downloads then you’ll be able to find the transferred ipa’s inside installous. tap one by one as to install each ipa.

thats it, you’re done! you didnt use itunes without the hassle of authorizing and checking what application you want to install in their browser directory. simple and easy.

IPHONE THEMEs Modding

please follow steps at your own risk and i am not subject for any bricking of iphone following these tutorial.

NOTES:
-your iphone must be jailbroken
-you must have bosspaper application
-you must have pogoplank as well
-i have installed five rows, five column, five icon dock and iconoclasm as well which you myt find interesting
-ill be posting some of my themes i have done with my iphone soon.

changing your wallpaper:
1. connect to wifi network
2. get the ip address then put in host name of winscp then type username:root and password:alpine
3. inside /private/var/mobile/stash/ you will be able to see themes folder.
4. put your downloaded or your own design wallpaper (*.png) in one folder in your desktop then drag and drop inside private/var/mobile/stash
5. next is go to bosspaper then select individual pictures
6. tap add
7. tap winterboard
8. then tap the folder you just copied to your iphone and select the wallpaper by tapping add
9.then tap back until you reach the bosspaper home view
10. press the home button and your done. you have selected your own background as a theme without changing the locskcreen.

changing your iphone icons:
1. repeat steps 1-3 but this time go to applications folder
2. download free icons on the net or you can also do one. i think the image size would be 60×60 (ill get back to this coz i forgot the dimensions)
3. go to one specific folder (e.g. mail folder) then look for the filename “icon.png” sometimes it’s “Icon.png”
4. go to your downloaded or user icon then rename it exactly same as the one inside the application folder
5. then using winscp drag and drop the user or downloaded icon in the aplication folder then just click yes.
6. slide sbsettings then tap respring.
7. then you’ll see the change in the icon of your mail.

jailbreaking 3.1.2 using blackra1n

i must say this is the easiest way to jailbreak an iphone and its up to date with the release of snow, rock and cydia full installers. just update your iphone using itunes 9.0.2 and click restore but i must warn you if it asks you to install the latest carrier (i htink the latest would be 5.6 for AT&T) just hit the cancel button. and this happens after it restores your phone to 3.1.2.

you’ll be able to see a 3.1.2 upgrade definitions when you hit the restore button in itunes. one of the problems i encountered when i restored to 3.1.2 and 5.6 carrier was the network problem. so don’t and i say again DON’T upgrade to 5.6carrier.

blackra1n, the best there is when it comes to jailbreaking.here are the steps using blackra1n.

1. restore your iphone to 3.1.2 using itunes 9.0.2
2. download blackra1n here and place it in your dekstop.
3. after downloading and restoring to 3.1.2, double click blackra1n exe file and hit run button.
4. you’ll be able to see a “make it rain” browser button, all you have to do is click the make it rain button
5. it will tell you that is jailbreaking, then will reboot your iphone. just wait until you see the finished browser.
6. go to your iphone homepage and slide until you see the blackra1n application
7. press blackra1n, by doing this you’ll see three options that you want to install. (cydia, rock, snow)
8. please remember to install one at a time to avoid facing problems.
9. press cydia then press install
10. wait until it is finished then close the application.
11. in your homepage youll see cydia and by then you are good to go for putting applications from your itunes applications directory to your iphone.
12. if in case your phone’s network was gone in the settings page, look for the “carrier logo fixer” inside cydia and install it.
13. and if in case your network is gone, meaning your network signal is in one bar only and you cannot receive mesages or incoming nor you can do an outgoing calls, just install snow inside blackra1n and it will all patch up and your iphone is good as it was before you upgraded it.

BROWSING the IPHONE Directory

looking into the directory files inside the iphone? yes you can do this and you can even put applications and copy, cut paste files to and from the computer/iphone using WINSCP.

here’s how.

LOOKING INTO DIRECTORY GUIDELINES:

1. download “winscp” then hit the exe file after downloading to your computer.

2. it will ask for username password and host.

3.connect your iphone in the computer.

4.go to your iphone setttings – wi-fi – then click the wifi connectivity (should have wireless connection) then search for the info IP ADDRESS.

5. type the ip address of your iphone to the host in winscp

6. type username “root” and alpine as “password”. (or the other way around?! just check if it connects then you’re in)

7. inside winscp you can see on the right side pane the directory files of your iphone and on the left side pane for your computer.

8. if you like to copy the videos from the iphone to your computer just browse in the iphone directory until you find a video folder.

9. you can also view and input applications inside winscp. that i havent tried it out yet but based from my reading it is under the folder var/mobile/

note: you can also use “iphonebrowser” but thats a different tutorial.

IPHONE RINGTONES, anyone?

i told my colleague just the other day if he would like to know how to create a ringtone on his iphone and he said yes so i taught him. i told him it is for his own benefit because if he wants a ringtone out of his mp3 selections he can get it immediately even without going to a retail store and buy a ringtone there or over a net.

here’s how you can create your own ringtone out of mp3 selections..

CREATING IPHONE RINGTONE:

1. open itunes 8.2

2.connect your iphone to your computer.no need for internet connection

3.open a mp3 file to your music playlists.

4. listen to what part of the song you would like from the time it will begin and the time it will end (as you desires)

5.remember or write down the starting time of the desired mp3 song and the ending time.

6.after  you write down the timing, go to the mp3 and right click on it and select “get info”

7.in the get info box, select “options” tab then tick on the start time and the end time and write down what you have written then press ok.

8.right click on the song again then select “create aac version.” notice that after selecting create aac version it will automatically create a duplicate of the song. if this happens then it is succesful.

9. now go to “user” folder located on the desktop then select “music” folder 

10. you will be able to see an itunes folder. click on it then go to “itunes music” folder.

11. this time you’ll be able to see lists of folders you have created using the aac version. select the type of song you have created then right click on it then select rename.

12. rename the file from “anewsong.m4a” to “anewsong.m4r“

13.then go back to itunes and select FILE – ADD FILE

14. browse through the folder where “anewsong.m4r” is located and click ok.

15. select “ringtone” at itunes then drag the created ringtone to your iphone.

16. go to your iphone settings, then select ringtone. you will be able to check if the created ringtone is there. enjoy!!

last night…

last night was our music team meeting. at long last after so many months we have another what we called kubos meeting. and in the long run of chit and chat we finally arrived to have 2 sets of musicians in a week. and so i guess ill be playing for the two services once again. thats ok with me. the hard part is 10 songs in a week i should be memorizing. i hope not. i wish there is someone who i can be proxied. anyways here is what happened last night. plus the fact that ive manage to get the request of my friends mp3s. chris brown,tears for fears,and watched a video of nickelback’s burn it to the ground and linkin park’s a new divide. of course a facebook account that should never be missed and a field to be plowed in farm town. hehe.

tired.. yes.. but not expired.
